La chiesa parrocchiale fu costruita nell'XI secolo, con buona probabilità in seguito alla donazione che il marchese Enrico e la consorte Adalena (Adelaide) di Susa fecero nel 1043 ai monaci agostiniani di san Antonino della diocesi francese di Rhodes. Nel 1297 la chiesa - e i beni - passano sotto il controllo giuridico e pastorale dell'abate di S.Michele della Sacra. La parrocchia ha goduto fin dalla sua fondazione dell'immunità fiscale e giuridica, possedendo redditi diretti - terre e boschi dati in affitto - e indiretti, ovvero i diritti feudali derivanti dell'uso che i cittadini fecero del beneficio parrocchiale. Il parroco era dunque anche Conte. Una parte di questi diritti feudali vennero affrancati il 21 giugno 1599 con atto notarile. E' una delle chiese romaniche più antiche della Valle di Susa, benché solo il campanile, a pianta quadrata, e alto 29 metri e con sette piani e quattro lesene laterali, realizzato nella seconda metà dell'XI secolo e nell'anno 1763 collocato l'orologio meccanico, restaurato nell'estate del 2001, conserva ancora quasi intatto lo stile originario. Dell'antica costruzione sono conservate importanti tracce negli archetti dell'abside meridionale formati da una cornice di mattoni a "denti di sega" correnti tra due listelli e da una serie di mattoni sottili disposti ad angolo, in modo da formare una elegante linea a zig-zag. Tre ampie monofore si aprono nell'abside centrale e una più piccola nelle laterali. Importanti affreschi Duo-Trecenteschi sono stati rinvenuti e restaurati in una abside interna e all'esterno della navata centrale. Recenti restauri alla navata centrale interna della chiesa hanno portato alla luce decorazioni del Cinquecento e una bella serie di pitture di poco più tarde, restituendo luminosità ed autorevolezza ad una delle chiese più belle della Valle di Susa.
