I guess you must have cropped this one a fair bit too, to get in this close? The flower is nice though the bee could be sharper. Did it do well on BF? |

Actually, no - only a small crop to a preferred composition. The original was still only a part of the flower. It's currently number 2 on Popular and is likely to be number 1 after midnight when Lucia's 1000th blip falls off the top - unless something else rushes up from behind! :) Are you never tempted to pop back and take a look? Someone only the other day said that they were missing reading your comments on my page! But, of course, you could just browse without commenting! |

Hopefully you will get to the top. To be honest, leaving Blip was a real drawn-out pain, I just couldn't quite do it, it really was that addictive. I actually tried many times. David M and you are the only two I have any contact with now, he via email and occasional facebook and you well, ... It was time to move on and depart and that meant no temptations so have removed the link from my favourites etc. I saw David's recent 1000th on FB and took an interest in that. Without wanting to sound high and mighty or selfish, I did invite any followers of mine to come on over - but as in all walks of life, some you win and some you lose. The important thing, though, is to move forward and my photography is more important to me than a few people I might sort of know in a virtual way. I felt stifled on Blip and as both you and David have said yourselves, it is difficult/impossible to attend to two sites fully. Having said all that, I am truly glad of our chats here, helped by our close locations and your thirst for knowledge in photography. Thank you for that, Ann |

Thanks, Tim. I'm sure leaving Blip was very difficult - I can't imagine not blipping now. I'm also sure I was not the only one who was very saddened when you left. For me, Blip is still first and foremost about the photography, and it has helped a great deal to move my photography forward I believe, but I could not easily give up the relationships I have built up - an unexpected bi-product of my time on Blip! But you have to do what is best for you, even if it was a tough choice, and you are certainly well established here and seem to have 'met' lots of new people. I really enjoy our chats here and appreciate your advice and encouragement - thank you, Tim! |

I assure you, I felt the same way, Blip was the highlight of my day - not that is meant as an omen for you of course, but now I spend the time doing the actual photography rather than talking to people and about things I did start to wonder why I was doing just! Unlike you, I am not a people person, as a general rule, I prefer the solitude but can do - and obviously have to - mix with folk on occasion, both socially and photographically. I do have an artistic mean streak in me and treasure my oft called for single-minded determination to get the photos I want, considering the often quite difficult constraints I am under. I don't think I'm doing TOO badly considering and to think that I produce on a mostly daily basis photos that I could only dream of not so long ago - but most of all, photography is my coping mechanism and strategy for all that ails me - which at the moment, are extremely great. I'd rather produce the photos and say 'this is what I've done' rather than go on about any disabilities I may or may not have. To make grounds on an international site of this standard where it is down to the image ultimately, then I am happy with that. |

Your photos are terrific and you certainly seem to be doing very well here with them, Tim. I know little of the disabilities and difficulties you battle with - that is your business and for you to decide how much or how little you share - but I'm glad that your photography helps you to cope. As you are probably aware, I am a Christian and have other ways of coping with life's challenges, although my photography and my time spent absorbing the beauty of the world around me is all part of that. Much as I love people, I love solitude, too, and am not remotely distressed if I reach the end of the day without speaking to anyone! In fact, I positively relish such occasions! :) |

On that note, dull weather or not, whether I need a photo or not (I don't, really) I need to get out into that Autumn chill and take some pics - Some blue hour street scenes with artificial lighting is an excellent way of both beating the lack of light as well making one feel you've well and truly earned them - I'm not hinting but I think such a time of day can salvage an otherwise awful day, if you were looking to grasp other genres that we were talking about...Have a good evening and Sunday, Ann |

:)) I'm off out now, too! Thanks for the hint but maybe not today - I'll be back before the artificial lights are on! |
