Grey and dull, autumn colours in the New Forest this afternoon not developed enough, left few photo opportunities. Decided to restrict myself to one lens - the 105mm Sigma f2.8 macro, whether used close up or at a distance. Its stabilisation helped of course with the poor light levels as does the excellent performance from wide open. So, I looked for shape and forms and these very ordinary silver birches against the light made a pleasing composition and the limited depth of field adds a soft three-dimensionality to the scene. |

It really was such a dull day today and I so very much wanted to photograph a sunrise or sunset! You've taken a lovely woodland shot - great positioning of the trees and I like the way tha colour loses its intensity in the background. |

Thank you Ann. A sunrise or sunset, wasn't it your 1st Blipday today (I haven't yet turned off email notifications) - I do hope you managed to get something worthwhile? |

It was a flower with a bee that I was reasonably happy with. Flowers are not a favourite subject matter for me but with no light to be found, it was that or a Photoshop created abstract! I have a good following on blip and people are very kind...... |

I see that you haven't posted it here... And yes, you are right but there again, they are in the same boat, they know that weather can make or break and is a lottery in UK anyway. They understand that and so are much more understanding. With winter on its way, perhaps you could (should?!) be finding and practising new genres that don't require sunshine! They do exist of course but might require working at. |

You'd tell me it's soft. Which I know. But I may post it anyway..... I would be interested to look at new genres - will take some research though. |

I've already looked at it and it was OK, not perfect but then not every shot can be! As for other genres, see how other blippers have filled their dismal days with subjects - sure is a good grounding, finding one image per day, every day. |
