La Tradescantia Albiflora è un tipo di pianta che ha la particolarità di avere diversi tipi di specie. Le piante di questo genere sono diffuse soprattutto in Nord e Centro America, mentre in Europa vennero importate solo nel XIX secolo. A partire dagli anni 50 arrivò anche in Italia e oggi la tradescantia è da coltivare come una comune pianta da appartamento. Le piante di tradescantia appartengono alla famiglia delle commelinacee e sono divise in circa trenta specie del genere.
