Seven minutes after the first in the short series, and the interior lights have come on. Spot also Venus and the waning crescent moon!

I prefer this (comparing no. 1). The lights inside and the glimpse of light coming out from the door are splendid.

I do too, Jypka, but I had to start off with the other one at the beginning! I also had more time to prepare taking this one so perhaps is better positioned. Setting up a big tripod from scratch can take several minutes and I knew the lights were going to come on very soon - 7 minutes later to be exact!

Beautiful! Love the light emanating from the cathedral, including the little + up in the tower! Love that the spire disappears into the mist, as if the warm glow from within has yet to reach it!

Excellent description, Ann, again, you read my mind in what I like most about it. One feels a mixture of privilege, anticipation and panic as you stand there (as you can see, there is not another soul to be seen, unlike later when it will be teeming) - these are all 30 second exposures and you can't meter for them, so you have to guess. After the 30 sec shot it takes a further 30 secs before you even see if it's too dark, or worse, too pale. That is why the first was so hastily taken, I knew the lights were going to come on but just had to get one without, just that porch light. The next one is going up in the morning, but it will be a different viewpoint/angle.

I, too, experience a sense of awe in such places....

Being on one's own Ann, you feel that it's a show especially for you...

but then of course it's a just a daily routine and on most days it doesn't look anywhere near as glorious!
