Many thanks for the comments Sorriso.

I don't often photograph captive birds, I find it has a very hollow feeling to it when I'm looking at the results. It's a comparatively easy way of getting shots like this but lacks the satisfaction of shooting wildlife. However, I particularly like how this shot turned out and I wanted to see what other people think.

Here's a black and white shot from the same session if you're interested in seeing more

... The best way to avoid the hollow feeling is to avoid shooting at captive birds ...

Moreover, I do not see the eye and the hook-bill with the expected clarity of a picture taken in the situation you described on above

As I said, I don't do it often. But this was a good opportunity and it is one of the only captive shots that I've been pleased with enough to want to share here.
Mostly I shoot wildlife, with all the impracticalities, frustrations and eventual satisfaction that it brings (that I'm sure everyone here knows only too well Sorriso).

I like the colors and the poses, I'd have preferred an horizontal composition.
