Nel complesso si trovano un'abbazia benedettina, parte della quale fu riconvertita in foresteria per accogliere i visitatori, una basilica scavata nella roccia dove si trovano le tombe di Franco, Primo de Rivera e due cappelle dove sono sepolti militari dei due schieramenti. Sopra la basilica sorge la più alta croce cristiana del mondo: 150 metri di altezza, visibile a più di 40 chilometri di distanza. Si può accedere alla base della croce mediante una funicolare. L'altezza della croce è di 150 metri, i bracci laterali misurano 46 metri e poggia su due basamenti. A 25 metri di altezza, nel primo basamento, si trovano le sculture dei quattro evangelisti e dei loro simboli: Giovanni e l'aquila, Luca e il toro, Marco e il leone e Matteo e l'uomo alato opere di Juan de ?valos. Nel secondo basamento, a 42 metri di altezza, sono rappresentate le quattro virtù cardinali: prudenza, giustizia, fortezza e temperanza.
