Fin dall'origine i monti Sibillini si presentano in fama poco raccomandabile,questa credenza demoniaca l'accompagnò per diversi secoli. Non è sicuro stabilire quale Sibilla abbia originato il nome Sibillini.Infatti se ne contano una ventina nella mitologia greco/romana,la Persica,laLibica,la Delfica......gli storici sono d'accordo che il nome Sibillini venne permeato dalla Sibilla Italica o Cumana.
