L'Acquedotto delle Aguas Livres (cioè delle acque libere) è uno dei simboli più imponenti di Lisbona. Gli archi sono 109 e i 14 più alti raggiungono i 941 metri. Il più grande conta 63 metri d'altezza e 32,5 metri di larghezza. Il monumento ha resistito addirittura al devastante terremoto del 1755. Dismesso nel 1967, con i suoi 58 km, oggi è tornato ad essere percorribile a piedi.
