I like .... you put the tape in order to avoid the loss of AF?

no, with 2X (including other brands) on this objective should not be, it's too dark. It 's always possible using the Auto AF liveview but only for static subjects, of course.

if you or the model is limited to 1.4 xII F4 (or other brand) and get a good quality and AF running in native mode.

Great detail of the feathers. I also really like the background with all the "plumini" of poplars. Compliments

Beautiful pictures especially of sharpness, now I want to buy the 400mm f5.6 and pair it with a multiplier what do you recommend 1.4 version II or III? Thank you ..

I have the Series III 1, 4X and 2X with a lot of patience and I've tried both on 400. the 2X is to be used for emergency because the IQ degrades enough, the 1, 4X III gives excellent results for sharpness but also with three contacts masked with tape does not hold AF reliably even if there is a African sun so it is usable on a tripod / monopod for static subjects or nearly so.

YESTERDAY I decided to also try the KENKO Pro300 DGX 1.4X that according to many has an IQ similar to the version II of the canon, and holds up well (it seems very well) but the AF is NOT something that I've tried so I do perosna tests to give you a consiglio.
Having already had two I got where I spent less but paying the price of a long wait to get it so I'll give you a definitive advice within a couple of weeks, I hope :)
