Mi spiace deludervi, ma in internet ho travo che il nome sembra derivare dalla struttura del grappolo piccolo, alato con acini abbastanza sferici di colore giallo intenso, somigliante ad un piccolo passero .................
Scherzi a parte, più verosimilmente il nome deriva da un vitigno autoctono del centro Italia, in particolare coltivato in Abruzzo e Marche.
