Gli ultimi carbonari dei Monti della Laga, sono uomini di tradizioni tramandate di padre in figlio fatte di fumo e fatica. Sono carbonaie ancora in funzione e non sempre accese. Le prime fumate , quando si da' la start alla carbonaia, sono le piu' tossiche ed è meglio stargli lontano .I leggeri venti spingono prima da una parte e poi dall'altra i fumi e per controllarle bisogna spesso girare e allontanarsi . Vengono accese da sopra tramite un foro , dove vengono inseriti pezzetti di faggio di circa 15 cm di lunghezza per far partire i carboni , se la legna è fresca ci si puo' mettere anche 10-12 giorni per estrarre il primo carbone se la legna è secca 4-5 giorni e la fatica viene ripagata con dell'ottima carbonella. Stasera tornando a casa la mia D 300 profumava ancora di quell'odore intenso di caminetto.:)
