Aumento della produzione energetica interna. Nei primi anni del '900 la produzione della tenuta della Mandria era tale che si rese necessaria la costruzione di una centrale idroelettrica aggiuntiva a quella già esistente. Nel 1921, anno di costruzione della centrale, la produzione di energia salì in questo modo dai 30 cavalli iniziali (circa 22 chilowatt) ai 110 complessivi (circa 88 chilowatt). La scelta di aumentare la produzione energetica interna deve essere letta come parte di un progetto più generale, che mirava al raggiungimento dell'autarchia, cioè della totale autosufficienza. Siamo negli anni '20 e anche la Mandria subisce fortemente l'influenza del pensiero fascista. La nuova centrale sfruttava la potenza delle acque della Stura di Lanzo. Il progetto prevedeva l'utilizzo di 2 canali artificiali, una vasca di decantazione, una tubazione semiforzata in cemento armato di circa 700 metri e una forzata di 50 metri. Un'altra centrale, termica, ancora visibile, era dotata di un motore tre cilindri a ciclo Diesel - una vera novità per l'epoca - accoppiato direttamente a un generatore di energia. La corrente prodotta da entrambe le centrali era di due tipi: una a 240 volt per l'energia motrice e l'altra a 125 volt per la luce. La costruzione della seconda centrale rappresentò una vera e propria novità nella Mandria e fu seguita dalla disposizione di una fitta rete di cabine e linee aeree all'interno di Borgo Castello e nei dintorni, mentre un'altra linea portava la corrente alla cascina Peppinella, alla Villa dei Laghi e alla cascina Rubbianetta. Oggi la centrale idroelettrica non è più attiva.
