La distanza di questo ammasso è incerta, dato che viene calcolata tra i 4000 anni luce (secondo Kenneth Glyn Jones e lo Sky Catalogue 2000) e i 7200 anni luce (secondo la maggior parte delle fonti compreso Mallas/Kreimer e Burnham). La componente più luminosa è generalmente indicata come di magnitudine apparente 8,4,[3]
