il piccoletto non ne voleva sapere di mangiare l'erba... lui voleva continuamente poppare il latte.... al rifiuto della madre seguivano i suoi brontolii e ruggiti degni di un grizzly cattivissimo! - Katmai N.P. - - Alaska 2015 -

Katmai NP & Preserve is a magical place ... is the sanctuary of brown bears along the Lake Clark NP which is a little further north. It 'a vast, remote area accessible only by floatplane means and necessarily accompanied by an experienced guide and authorized (total ban on firearms, including driving !!). The bears in the spring are scattered in these infinite lands in the open, intent only to graze grass and raising their families ... you have to walk a lot and constantly move to have the opportunity to meet specimens and different families. During this time the bears are peaceful and playful ... you can also find a few meters from them without danger.
In summer things change, it is time salmon, their predatory instinct and hunger damage aggression and food competition makes them more pericolosi. At Clark Lake you can take them back in large numbers massed on the famous waterfalls waiting for the ascent of the big fish ... but all this just by walkways and wooden terraces built specifically for tourists (especially photographers and cameramen).
Thank you all for the passage and the wonderful comments, it is always a pleasure :-P

See you soon, Luca

Luke, express compliments is the minimum. I would like to point out one more thing: that your great pictures do not merely mark an undoubted technical skill, but also a perfect knowledge of the nature in which you were immersed and animals (the bear in this case) that was the subject of Shooting. I'm no expert, but I think the bear (in this case the female with her puppy), is difficult to manage in terms of danger when the puppy in tow and if you are successful in this (as in other circumstances of shots) presented, the merit is undoubtedly aware of your nature, so ..... chapeau

What a joy to read a comment like yours, dear Fernando :-P
are primarily a traveler, hungry for experience and knowledge of the places, people, food and animals ... then comes the little photographer in me ...
The shots to the bears of Katmai did not come by chance, in fact it takes knowledge, background in the subject and a bit of courage ... or risk to travel for 14 hours without seeing one!
Happy your time spent in Alaska between my shots ..... ;-)
a big hello, Luke
