, 1/1600 f/7.1, ISO 800, hand held. Specie: Caprimulgus europaeus

Excellent shot.
In North America we call this bird a "whip-poor-will",this bird is becoming endangered .

thank you all !! at least once a year renew the encounter with this beautiful and strange creature.
Paul, to photograph it serves a special technique that you can not perform alone ...
1-serves that you find one quiet
2-you have to have a friend with the spotlight that illuminates
3-turn off the headlights otherwise fly away for fear of being hit
4-without interrupting the beam of sptlight off the car silently and shooting from 10 meters, then 8 meters and it is quiet at the end you could almost, I say almost touch it.
They are so convinced of their mimicry that are at a standstill. is a common thing in different animals notturni.anche owls common watching you but remain firm. owls instead flies to 50mt and 30mt day of notte.il barn I saw flying at 10/15 mt. the owl of notte I shit zero and fly away quickly !! the owl is quiet but unfortunately never photographed a duty, I leave it for now, the sor Miluzzo! -D

I take this shot, the increasingly mystical Nightjar to compliment you for that and of course for the King of the night, the Eagle Owl. Patience, perseverance and luck, are indispensable even in the picture at night.
Supercomplimenti.
PS: you'll see that sooner or later an Owl also confidant of the night are.
The Allocco, is "stinking" a little less of the Owl, but I found them a few confidants.
The Barn Owl is quiet though, is not very different from the common owl, but not as collaborative.
For others you said ... well apart from the owl .... who has ever seen !!! Sigh ...
