A Roma nei pressi di Piazza Farnese e Campo de' Fiori, all'interno di palazzo Spada, è possibile ammirare la "Galleria prospettica del Borromini" realizzata tra il 1651 e il 1653, la galleria ci appare come un eccezionale gioco prospettico tipico del periodo del barocco: sembra normalissima, ma è molto lontana dall'esserlo. Non potrete entrarvi, ma quando la guida che vi accompagnerà lo farà, vi renderete immediatamente conto che in essa deve esserci qualcosa che non va. Infatti, la guida si ingrandirà gradualmente, fino a diventare gigantesca. Al contrario, la statua che si trova oltre la galleria diventerà minuscola, com'è realmente, quando la guida si porrà al suo fianco. La galleria è lunga circa otto metri, ma sembra lunga almeno il triplo, perché Borromini la costruì in base alle regole della prospettiva solida accelerata, una tecnica che consente di creare uno spazio apparente maggiore di quello reale.
