vi ripropongo la stessa chiesa in verticale in modo che possiate ammirare gli stupefacenti dipinti del soffitto. La decorazione pittorica (1676-1678) è opera del laico gesuita Andrea Pozzo (1642-1709), pittore prospettico tra i più dotati ed influenti del periodo barocco. Egli ha trasformato l'intera superficie della copertura, pressoché piatta, in un fastoso e colorato repertorio di elementi decorativi e finte architetture come quella della cupola centrale con la Gloria di San Francesco Saverio. Utilizzando gli stessi elementi architettonici e cromatici impiegati per decorare le pareti, Pozzo costruisce un finto tamburo ottagonale ritratto di scorcio e privo di copertura che si apre verso l'infinito; la rigorosa impostazione geometrica impedisce di percepire che si tratta di un'illusione prospettica.
