Palazzo Barolo è uno dei più significativi e meglio conservati esempi di dimore nobiliari della Torino barocca aperte al pubblico. L'edificio occupa, quasi completamente, un intero isolato in via delle Orfane, fino a Piazza Savoia. Fu costruito alla fine del Seicento da Gian Francesco Baroncelli come ristrutturazione della casa già posseduta dal Conte Ottavio Provana di Druent, «primo scudiero» e «gran guardarobiere» di Vittorio Amedeo II di Savoia. Nel palazzo abitarono l'unica figlia del conte Ottavio, Elena Matilde, con il marito, marchese GerolamoGabriele Falletti di Barolo. Nel 1727 l'edificio passò in eredità a Ottavio Giuseppe, loro primogenito, che intorno alla metà del Settecento ne affidò la modifica a Benedetto Alfieri per adeguarlo al gusto rococò. Il Palazzo è stato la residenza della famiglia Falletti fino agli ultimi Marchesi di Barolo, i coniugi Tancredi e Giulia. Elementi salienti dell'architettura del Palazzo, la facciata, l'atrio e lo scalone a forbice, realizzati a partire dal 1692 su progetto dell'architetto Gian Francesco Baroncelli.
