Fin dal Settecento la sala ha alternato la sua funzione di anticamera e di camera da letto. Nel 1838 è l'anticamera dell'appartamento del giovane principe, Vittorio Emanuele, mentre pochi anni dopo, in seguito al suo matrimonio con Maria Adelaide, celebrato nel 1842, diventa la camera da letto della sua sposa. Il letto, in mogano e spiniero è oggi riproposto in un allestimento progettato in collaborazione con il Teatro Regio di Torino.
