Carlo Alberto, poco incline alla mondanità, trovava in questa stanza un appartato luogo di riflessione e di studio. La stanza conserva integralmente i suoi arredi originari opera dell'ebanista inglese Henry Thomas Peters, dalle linee monumentali e scultoree, arricchite dai motivi a teste di delfino e palmette, tipici della sua produzione. Le ventisei litografie rappresentanti i fatti più illustri dei regnanti sabaudi e dei loro discendenti, sono descritte nell'inventario del 1850: le ricche e movimentate cornici in legno spiniero si devono a Gabriele Capello. La veduta della Margaria neogotica con i cavalli al pascolo è opera di Felice Cerruti Bauduc (1818-1896).
