Boh...si è no, io ho provato una versione con firmware vecchio, esattamente sui due corpi macchina su cui il Tamron dava più problemi ovvero 7D e 5D3. I risultati sono stati incostanti con entrambre le mie macchine.
Se aggancia il fuoco la foto è molto buona...il problema sta proprio nell'incostanza dell'AF.
LA qualità c'è e pure parecchia per un'ottica entry level come questa....
Dovrei provare un esemplare con il firmware aggiornato per fare un paragone....

Happy Il Sigma 150-600 è una validissima alternativa che però non ho avuto modo di testare, ma la vesione S costa parecchio di più del Tamron...ci sarebbe anche la versione C del Sigma, ma non so se ha le stesse performance del fratello maggiore...da provare insomma.
Il paragone con il Canon, soprattutto la nuova versione, non ha senso se parliamo di AF e della sua tenuta soprattutto in AI-Servo. E' spaziale, l'ho provato e me ne sono innamorato.
Dici che è troppo corto? Beh, dipende da tanti fattori...se tieni conto che su APS-C (che mi pare sia il sensore tu lo debba utilizzare) diventa un 640mm e che è un pelo più nitido dei vari Sigma e Tamron, anche se tu saresti costretto a croppare un pò, a mio avviso otterresti comunque una qualità molto elevata. Inoltre c'è da dire che l'AF del Canon è micidiale, aggancia e difficilmente molla il soggetto.
Ecco....dipende molto da quello che ti aspetti e soprattutto dal budget che ti sei prefissato.
Non voglio assolutamente farti i conti in tasca, lungi da me, ma vorrei fare due conti se me lo permetti...

Tra Tamron e Sigma C più o meno siamo li, invece tra Canon e Sigma S ci sono circa 430€ di differenza, che non sono affatto pochi, poi c'è sempre il parco usato da valutare e certamente risparmieresti qualche caffè.
La qualità del Canon non si discute, ma bisognerebbe valutare anche il tuo "palato", nel senso che se ti "accontenti" delle caratteristiche dei concorrenti io i soldi in più me li terrei in tasca. Ovvio anche che bisogna valutare in che ambito andresti a lavorare.
Mi spiego meglio, se è una tua passione e tale rimarrà (almeno all'inizio) allora mi terrei i soldi in tasca e punterei ad un buon usato. Se lo scopo finale è la professionalità ed il raggiungimento del massimo risultato allora il discorso può cambiare. Con questo non voglio assolutamente dire che con Sigma e Tamron non si possano garantire risultati di qualità, anzi le mie fotografie dimostrano il contrario, ma qualità vuol anche dire che la tua attrezzatura ti deve garantire il risultato ottimale e costante anche in situazioni più complesse ed estreme...e forse qui il Canon è una garanzia in più.

Condivido tutto quello che hai scritto ed è proprio la situazione in cui mi trovo. L'idea iniziale è di avere un'attrezzatura che mi permetta di fare esperienza senza investirci un capitale e coprire varie situazioni. In più facendo esperienza poi potrei capire dove specializzarmi e munirmi della giusta attrezzatura (certo con il Canon taglierei la testa al toro per alcuni versi). Certo riuscire ad ottenere qualche accredito agli eventi e fare pratica/da spalla a qualche professionista aiuterebbe tantissimo. La tecnologia che utilizzi conta, ma i trucchi del mestiere sono un requisito ancora più importante.
