La tecnica di caccia dei felini è ben precisa. Non devono assolutamente sprecare energie e devono fare in modo che la caccia abbia successo. Solo nel caso del leopardo detta percentuale si alza notevolmente proprio perché la caccia con agguato spesso mette in condizione la preda di non avere il tempo di fuggire.
