Il sudore rosso degli ippopotami. Qualche anno fa è stato svelato da alcuni ricercatori giapponesi il segreto del "sudore rosso" degli ippopotami, identificando le sostanze chimiche responsabili dell'antico mito secondo cui questi animali suderebbero sangue. In realtà, le secrezioni degli ippopotami sono una mistura di due pigmenti instabili - uno rosso, l'altro arancione - che agiscono sia da crema solare sia da antibiotico, contribuendo altresì a mantenere freschi gli animali. #wild #night #safari

Bravo Marco! Informazione davvero interessante!!! Ci sono diversi progetti di ricerca che stanno studiando queste incredibili caratteristiche degli ippopotami per cercare di sviluppare dei farmaci per l' uomo..... Del resto basta andare in una pozza come quella di Retima per capire che se sopravvivono alle infezioni ci deve essere qualcosa di veramente miracoloso.......

Ottima per tutto, scatto e documento/descrizione molto dettagliata ;-)!!! Qualche cosa si miracoloso c'è davvero, talvolta si vedono lacerazioni e ferite talmente esposte negli ippopotami che se non avessero un sistema antibatterico incredibile non potrebbero di certo sopravvivere!!!!

Excellent throughout, shooting and document / very detailed description ;-) !!! There really is something miraculous, sometimes you see lacerations and wounds so exposed in the hippos that if they had an incredible antibacterial system certainly could not survive !!!!
