Le femmine di queste due specie di anatidi vestono livree simili è il becco che permette di distinguerle con sicurezza.
Il germano,ha il becco affusolato, di colore arancio con una vistosa macchia centrale scura. Il mestolone, ha il becco scuro appiattito e largo alla sua estremità.

Purtroppo l'immagine è parecchio rumorosa e sporca ma la luce mi piaceva tanto e non ne ho potuto fare a meno di pubblicarla.

Buona l'idea compositiva, ma forse un po' troppo estremizzata...
Per la specie, anche per me è una femmina di mestolone: il germano non avrebbe quell'attaccatura del becco così grande, in più si dovrebbe intravedere lo specchio azzurro, che qui è assente, mentre il becco è scuro solo nel mestolone maschio...
