Personalmente non me ne intendo... ma la scelta di 1/40, che a priori avrei giudicato a priori azzardata, si è rivelata vincente.

La canon 600D non gestisce bene gli alti iso, oltre gli 800 c'è tanto rumore.
Ho cercato quindi di tenere i 200 iso ma questo ha comportato dei tempi molto lunghi
Diciamo che ho sperimentato molto :-)

I then tried to keep the 200 ISO but this led to long timescales

Con iso 400 avresti già guadagnato un po' di velocità senza aggiungere significativamente rumore. Ma meno male che hai lasciato 200! 
Comunque anche io ho problemi simili di rumore con quegli iso... Ma in genere preferisco comunque alzare l'iso che rischiare di avere una foto mossa.

With ISO 400 would have already earned some 'speed without adding significant noise. But thank goodness you have left 200! :-)
However I also have similar problems with those iso noise ... But in general I still prefer to raise the ISO to risk having a blurred picture.

Infatti dopo un po ho alzato gli iso e le cose sono migliorate, tra un po posto anche le altre
