Lo Stabilimento "Rocchette 1" venne costruito per una capacità di 12000 fusi nel 1869 sulla riva destra del torrente Astico. L'edificio è tuttora esistente, nonostante i danni subiti dalle due guerre mondiali, e lo si può scorgere proprio nella valle scavata dall'Astico, sia scendendo verso Cogollo, prima di superare il Ponte Pilo, sia dall'alto, dal viadotto della provinciale per Arsiero. Esso rappresenta la tipica impostazione industriale del secondo Ottocento con una serie di campate coperte dagli sheds, seguendo a gradoni i dislivelli del terreno. La funzionalità e la solidità di tutta la fabbrica, furono garantite da opere di spianamento e rinforzo, compresa una scogliera gettata nel torrente e muri di contenimento per 1148 metri cubi. Il cantiere dei lavori, che richiese il concorso di circa 500 uomini, fu affiancato da opere idrauliche dirette dall'ingegnere Angelo Milesi, che creò sul torrente un salto di sei metri con una diga al fine di ottenere una forza motrice di 2500 Hp. #ArcheologiaIndustriale
