I came from Italy and I left to Hong Kong; unlike the latter, still independent at the time, here no one spoke English pretty much by anyone and fortunately before we left I had endeavored to apply by post to the nearest Consulate, who was in Germany, some tourist info and I also they sent a beautiful map with Chinese characters but also Westerners.
I then did a fax to the hotel in the center (small inn Chinese, but piazzatissimo) requesting that I would respond by sending their address written in ideograms and it was so; without that piece of paper I do not think it would be easy to get there by taxi ;-) ti ringrazio, fu un'esperienza bellissima, ma molto particolare.
Arrivavo dall'Italia e ripartii verso Hong Kong; diversamente da quest'ultima, ancora indipendente all'epoca, qui non si parlava inglese praticamente da parte di nessuno e per fortuna prima di partire mi ero ingegnato di chiedere via posta al Consolato più vicino, che era in Germania, qualche info turistica e mi avevano mandato anche una bellissima mappa con caratteri cinesi ma anche occidentali.
Avevo quindi fatto un fax all'hotel in centro (alberghetto piccolo cinese tradizionale, ma piazzatissimo) chiedendo che mi rispondessero mandandomi il loro indirizzo scritto in ideogrammi e così fu; senza di quel foglio non credo sarebbe stato semplice arrivarci in taxi  |
