Come forse si sarà capito guardando le mie fotografie, amo molto i colori accesi e molto saturi; mi piacciono perché trovo valorizzino l'immagine, soprattutto quando i soggetti ritratti presentano già naturalmente dei bei colori. E' il caso del pavone contenuto in questa fotografia, un'animale dal piumaggio variopinto e coloratissimo. Originario delle foreste dell'India, è stato importato in Europa dai Romani, i quali lo allevavano non solo per la sua bellezza, ma anche per la prelibatezza delle sue carni. E' un'animale che si presta facilmente all'allevamento, comportandosi un po' come la gallina, sia per comportamenti che per dieta. In natura invece presenta comportamenti simili al Gallo cedrone; la capacità di volare di quest'uccello è limitata per lo più a brevi decolli come metodo di fuga ma, nonostante questo, è in grado di raggiungere facilmente il tetto di una casa di tre piani. Per il resto del tempo il pavone è un uccello camminatore, pari al fagiano. L'esemplare qui ritratto è tenuto in cattività, anche se ha a sua disposizione un vastissimo parco, che deve dividere con altri esemplari della stessa specie e con tacchini, oche, galline e cavalli. Tra tutti gli animali presenti è stato quello più schivo e che ha presentato meno confidenza, per ottenere qualche scatto decente ho dovuto rincorrerlo non poco. Durante i vari inseguimenti i pavoni mi hanno dimostrato che, nonostante preferiscano camminare, sono in grado di compiere voli brevi ma significativi, riuscendo a raggiungere anche le cime di piante alte parecchi metri. Nonostante non ritragga il pavone nella sua interezza, trovo che lo sguardo quasi truce e il dettaglio sul piumaggio valgano da soli la bellezza dello scatto.
