Hello, I have watched your series of shots to these birds and I noticed a few points that I think penalize them. first of all the composition. I think you got too close subjects, leaving little air around them, forcing you by the way not to have a true picture composition but only a subject inevitably at the center of the frame. You were so close that some have even cut the tail bird. It is a shame because a wider framing would let you give more air to the subject and not cutting off any foam. Unfortunately, in most of the pictures the light was very aggressive, giving lights burned and shadows without details, but did not depend on you. also known to apply an unsharp mask uniform throughout the photo to make it clearer. a post so glidera out a lot of noise, especially on visible parts out of focus and in some cases creates even annoying artifacts. a mask applied to those parts that need it would give a more natural picture. one last thing, this kind of photos in the background has an important part in revealing the subject, so in addition to frame properly the birds you also have to go around considering the changes in the background so you pick one that highlights the lines of subject.
