La prima parte del percorso di oggi s'incentra su Guarino Guarini e sulle sue geniali soluzioni architettoniche. Il visitatore sostanzialmente ricalca le orme degli ospiti del Sei e del Settecento, i quali dopo essere scesi dalla carrozza nell'atrio ellittico affrontavano a piedi lo scalone monumentale per mezzo di due rampe gemelle, decorate dopo il 1692 dallo stuccatore luganese Pietro Somasso con i ritratti dei dodici Cesari e di altrettanti personaggi illustri e condottieri.
