Grazie lo stesso per il suggerimento e per i complimenti, apprezzatissimi! 
Per quanto riguarda il sigma, ti dirò, io mi trovo bene, liscio è una favola, moltiplicato impasta un pelo sui soggetti lontani e l'AF si rallenta un pochino (anche se ho avuto modo di provarlo su 1DX, 5dIII e 7dII ed era tutta un'altra storia, credo sia complice il modulo AF della 6D in AI SERVO che lascia un po' a desiderare), ma sempre tutto nel limite dell'accettabile.
Di contro ha il peso non indifferente, che per caccia itinerante si fa davvero sentire, meglio usarlo sempre con un monopiede al seguito o, meglio ancora, scattare da capanno fisso.
Hai un ottimo obiettivo (il 200L), però concordo con te che per avifauna molte volte 400 sono corti su FF.
Peccato per la distanza, te l'avrei fatto provare volentieri.
