Questo cucciolo era riuscito da solo a pescare nelle acque più basse il salmone, il cosiddetto sockeye, dal tipico colore rosso. I piccoli infatti seguono da vicino la mamma e cercano fin da subito di imitarla. In luglio/agosto c'è grande abbondanza di salmoni e quindi le occasioni per fare pratica di pesca, anche per i più piccoli, non mancano. I salmoni sockeye sono grandi, alcuni raggiungono davvero dimensioni enormi. Questo cucciolo ne aveva pescato uno molto più grande di lui e con grande orgoglio mostrava il suo pescato.
