Sopra le vetrine c'è un lungo e continuo ballatoio con una serie di scaffali destinati a raccogliere libri. Chiaro è il progetto di conservare nelle vetrine gli oggetti (armi, trofei e modelli) e nel ballatoio i libri destinati ad istruire i quadri dell'esercito sardo, per la creazione di un museo didattico strettamente collegato anche alla biblioteca che veniva a costituirsi proprio negli stessi anni nel vasto locale posto sotto la Galleria Beaumont. Durante i lavori del 1969-1977 i libri conservati nelle scaffalature del ballatoio vengono depositati nella sottostante Biblioteca Reale. Sul soffitto Il duello di Ettore e Aiace di Francesco Gonin.
