Il Sasso Cavallaccio è un masso erratico sito nel Lago Maggiore nel territorio del comune di Ranco... é stato depositato si pensa circa 15000 anni fa dall'ultima grande glaciazione che ha interessato questa parte del nostro territorio... Presumibilmente si stima che lo spessore del ghiacciaio fosse di circa 400 metri e si estendesse sino alla odierna altezza di Gallarate... Con buona probabilità il "sassolino", altro non è che un frammento del massiccio del San Gottardo sospinto fin quaggiù dalla forza del ghiaccio... Per un attimo le nuvole si sono aperte lasciando intravedere le cime della sponda Piemontese, accomunando nel mio immaginario, una ipotetica "granitica fratellanza"....
