Thanks Victor.
This was by far my first outing with the D810. I have yet to acclimate because switching to another system involves always involves a bit 'of disorientation though ... I thought worse:-D

Hello Stephen,
congratulations for the shot ... really very charming.
All the more so for being the first time ever with a car and brand other than those to which you are accustomed.
If this is the appetizer ...:-)
I have the same car for a month and I must say that when I open a file still remain wow! Wow! Wow!
I also like the 20, you did make the most interesting coupled.
However, beyond the equipment, the compliments go to the photographer, this is a scene of great class.

Thanks Josh:-)
For the moment, the feelings are great, there is a good feeling despite the sudden change of brand and although it is still at the very first shots I am already used to the body of the D810 (do not look nearly as I press the buttons, and are only the second day;-))
The workability of the file is as impressive as I expected; I had a little 'lost starting about color rendering; but it all worked out with a couple of settings in the panel calibration Lightroom.
The Nikon 20mm 1.8G really surprised me and I'm delighted to have him taken: it is crystal clear from the center to the edges and, for me fundamental, has a yield of starry (about light sources) very, very nice. I admit that, on distant sources of light does not create that magic star of Canon 24L II, but ci pretty close with a pleasant result (it must be said that 20 1.8G costs less than half of the Canon 24L II and the respective Nikon 24 1.4).

Tonight I did a couple of tests with the '85 1.4G and I was really amazed, A resolution was awesome and the colors really beautiful.

But here another shot (again tonight) always done with the 20mm 1.8G:

I'm happy for you. I read your reasons for changing brand and I'm very pleased that you've taken your liking already meets the very first impact. Double pleasure when I think back to when you asked wazer and others if the color rendering Nikon was so "far away" from the one you were used. As you have seen is just enough to meet and as you say, you can scramble the raw as if there were no tomorrow.
I would not go for one that is propaganda but the first lens Nikon Series f / 1,4G (with 58 instead of 50) and also the series f / 1.8g have nothing to envy anyone, even if there are no openings 1,2.
I allowed myself to leave a sincere appreciation on the other shot: very pleasant.
Congratulations deserved.
Giuseppe

ps: Since you like fotografare blue hour or maybe at night, I found online an interesting comparison made by a guy with a very similar to yours as it begins its review so:
Recently I made the switch from Canon to Nikon after 9 years of shooting on Canon DSLR cameras.

And 'fresh cool, dated

Thanks again Josh!
Regarding the colors, now that I have to try to hand me a lot more things are clear, and I fully understand the answer you gave me wazer time ago. The reality is that the Nikon NEF, Canon RAW than once imported into Lightroom are preserving a certain "flatness" in terms of contrast and colors. The thing at the beginning leaves slightly disoriented, as with Canon you are used to having colors that pierce the screen with just a few clicks.
But ... once you understand the potential of Nikon NEF, you realize that not only manage to get as full-bodied, deep colors but these colors are a unique natural.
Last night I had a shot at the beach (I will publish at lunch) 30-40 minutes after the hour blue and I can honestly say that, for being made with a single esposition, already covered in the kind of images that would not be able to realize (with the same technique) with the 5d II. I recovered the right shadows, I balanced the white and saturated the scene long enough, getting a shot tones pleasant, very faithful to what I had in front. Again, although still at the very first experiments satisfactions that is giving me the D810 are considerable;-)

Regarding the video that I've linked, basically summarizes what has always spoken and that, after all, was the reason that led me also to consider and make the change of brand. I say it for the hundredth time, have more dynamic range and more margin work of the shadows is not a better photographer than another. Simply helps in many situations, it makes you less "nervous" in fasand shooting and especially less frustrated in post production. Of techniques to "curb" the problem there are thousands: manual blending, luminosity masks, filters plate etc and so on and so forth. But in my case I felt the need to approcciarmi to a type of photography a bit 'more "free" and dropped from processing in post too artificial. And 'more than a year now that my workflow is simply importing the file in Lightroom, process it and pass in photoshop only and only for sharpening; and in this I found in Nikon something that allows me to continue on this path peacefully;-)
