Già "prima camera" della Grande Galleria che univa il Castello (attuale Palazzo Madama) al preesistente Palazzo del Vescovo, quest'ambiente ospitò durante il '700 il Gabinetto da Toeletta della regina, assumendo la denominazione di Gabinetto "alla China" o "Cinese". In seguito, in epoca carloalbertina, divenne Gabinetto e archivio del re. Il rivestimento delle pareti presenta una raffinata boiserie pensata in stile rocaille dall'architetto Filippo Juvarra e riflette il gusto per l'esotismo e la chinoiserie diffusosi presso tutte le corti europee tra '600 e '700. Le preziose lacche orientali furono acquistate a Roma nel 1732 dall'architetto stesso ed integrate con altre ad imitazione cinese realizzate nel 1736 dal pittore piemontese Pietro Massa. I dipinti della volta furono eseguiti intorno al 1735 dal pittore Claudio Francesco Beaumont che vi rappresentò, tra scene mitologiche tratte dall'Iliade, il Giudizio di Paride. La porta palagiana che chiude la stanza risale al rinnovamento carloalbertino e introduce alla sala del Medagliere dell'adiacente Armeria Reale. Su eleganti consolles poggiano i gruppi settecenteschi delle Quattro Stagioni realizzati dallo scultore Francesco Bertos.
