Nel 1684 il duca Vittorio Amedeo II fece realizzare dall'architetto Carlo Emanuele Lanfranchi questo ambiente e affidò all'austriaco Daniel Seyter, primo pittore di corte, la decorazione della volta. Nei cinque scomparti in cui è diviso lo spazio. campeggia al centro L'apoteosi dell'Eroe, ossia Vittorio Amedeo II, tra le divinità dell'Olimpo; ai lati Apollo che guida il carro del Sole e l'Aurora che spande fiori; alle estremità Ercole che ascende all'Olimpo guidato dall'Immortalità e Iride annunciatrice di Pace. Le due sovrapporte in testa alla Galleria, Pandora e La Giustizia, sono di Nicolò Regnier. L'inserimento degli specchi è un intervento dell'architetto Benedetto Alfieri (metà del '700); al disegno alfieriano appartengono anche le consolles, i sofà e gli sgabelli. Le appliques di gusto rocaille sono opera del bronzista Ladatte. mentre l'orologio sul camino, raffigurante la Caccia al cervo e al cinghiale, si deve al lavoro di differenti artisti. Nel 1840 Carlo Alberto commissionò un nuovo allestimento: gli specchi furono in parte coperti da ritratti di personaggi illustri dei territori sabaudi. I tre grandi ritratti di Pietro Ayres raffigurano Umberto Biancamano. capostipite dei Savoia. Emanuele Filiberto e Amedeo VI il Conte Verde.
