La primitiva decorazione dell'ambiente fu realizzata in occasione delle nozze tra Carlo Emanuele II e Francesca d'Orléans-Valois nel 1663; la stanza fu allora detta degli Enigmi per i dipinti che ne ornano ancora oggi il fregio dove compaiono le iniziali della coppia accompagnate dal motto della casata, FERT, e da motti enigmatici di amore e di fedeltà coniugale composti dal letterato Emanuele Tesauro. In seguito ai rimodernamenti voluti da Carlo Alberto divenne la sala di Udienza del Re. Pelagio Palagi ridisegnò gli ornati lignei della boiserie e delle porte, gli arredi e le stoffe. Alle pareti sono collocati tre ritratti: da destra Oscar di Svezia. Vittorio Emanuele II e l'Imperatore Napoleone III che nel 1855 donò al primo re d'Italia la coppia di vasi Cordelier che poggiano sul piano in alabastro delle consolles; i vasi, in porcellana dipinta e bronzo dorato, provengono dalla Manifattura di Sèvres e furono decorati da Charles Barriat con trofei e scene di caccia e pesca. Al centro della sala è collocata una grande coppa in malachite. dono dello Zar di Russia a Vittorio Emanuele II. Si apre sull'ambiente la Cappella privata voluta da Carlo Alberto, sul cui altare è collocato il dipinto la Sacra famiglia con S. Giovannino di Pelagio Palagi.
