Once upon a time... I rapaci notturni sono da sempre tra i nostri soggetti alati preferiti, vuoi per l'aura di mistero che li circonda, vuoi per le difficolta' fotografiche che lastricano il percorso di chi li vuole riprendere in natura. Questo ci ha portato a trascorrere numerose notti insonni ed, in molti casi, a sedute poco proficue.Ci ha pero' anche dato modo di acquisire una certa esperienza con le attrezzature utilizzate per questo genere di fotografia naturalistica.La fotocellula all'infrarosso, collegata ad una fotocamera, e' senza dubbio lo strumento piu' utile per le riprese in volo di rapaci notturni ed e' proprio cio'che e' stato usato per l'immagine della civetta. Il suo utilizzo comporta pero'alcune problematiche che vanno dal ritardo dello scatto rispetto al momento in cui il soggetto attraversa il fascio luminoso, al posizionamento della stessa: non sempre l'animale percorre il tragitto corretto e succede che la trappola non scatti o venga azionata con parti del corpo non previste col risultato di immagini completamente sfocate. Al primo problema si puo' ovviare facendo delle simulazioni, calcolando in maniera approssimativa quanti centimetri dopo il fascio luminoso debba essre fatta l'inquadratura.Per il secondo invece dovremo creare una sorta di passaggio obbligato, posizionando ad esempio dei rami, in maniera tale che il soggetto attraversi correttamente il pennello luminoso.L'immagine postata e' stata scattata con un Hasselblad ELM motorizzata da uno scatto ogni due secondi, obbiettivo Planar 80mm e tre lampeggiatori. L'utilizzo di una fotocamera 6X6 ad otturatore centrale aveva il vantaggio di limitare al minimo il ritardo dello scatto rispetto al passaggio dell'animale (circa 10 centimetri),almeno 1/3 rispetto alle moderne(?) fotocamere digitali.
