Deianira tentata dalla Furia Olio su tela 245 x 168 cm L'opera è unanimemente riferita a Rubens, che la realizzò ? sotto un evidente influsso tizianesco ? durante la fase avanzata dellla carriera, forse dopo la committenza della Torre de la Parada, conclusa entro il 1638. Deianira è ripresa nell'atto di ricevere da una Furia la tunica insanguinata del centauro Nesso, con la quale suo malgrado causerà la morte di Ercole, suo marito. Nonostante le evidenti somiglianze, il dipinto potrebbe non necessariamente costituire il pendant di Ercole nel giardino delle Esperidi (inv. 1059), come lascia intendere la discrasia di scala delle figure. Fra il 1780 e il 1810 è documentata nella collezione Gentile di Genova; entrò in Sabauda nel 1981. Ercole nel giardino delle Esperidi Olio su tela 246 x 168,5 cm Rubens realizzò il dipinto nella fase tarda della carriera, forse dopo il 1638. Chiaramente indebitato con Tiziano, mostra nella figura virile anche lo studio approfondito dell'Ercole Farnese ? già in Palazzo Farnesea Roma e ora al MuseoArcheologico Nazionale di Napoli. La tela raffigura la felice conclusione dell'undicesima fatica di Ercole, con l'eroe intento a cogliere i pomi d'oro dopo l'uccisione del drago posto a guardia del giardino delle Esperidi. Sebbene molto simile a Deianira tentata dalla furia non fu necessariamente concepita come pendant. Fra il 1780 e il 1811 è documentata presso il palazzo della famiglia Gentile di Genova: dopo diversi passaggi di proprietà giunse a Torino, prima in deposito a Palazzo Madama e infine in Galleria Sabauda, a seguito dell'acquisto con diritto di prelazione da parte dello Stato nel 1981.
