A parer mio questa foto è svalutata dallo sfondo decisamente anonimo, sicuramente isola bene il soggetto, per non lo valorizza neppure, è di un colore freddo e grigiastro che spegne il rosso del papavero.

In my view I think that the neutrality of the background always tends to enhance the subject, not just when the two colors are similar or to say rather not always. Sure, if the background had been hypothetically black the contrast between the two would have been remarkable, but the background was that so nothing could.
