con Nikon TC-17E II, 1/800 f/8.0, ISO 200, hand held. Oasi Laguna Orbetello, Italy. Specie: Geronticus eremita

L'ibis eremita era scomparso in Europa dal 1500 e da qualche anno è oggetto di un ambizioso programma austriaco di reintroduzione in natura. Alla Konrad Lorenz Research Station gli ibis vengono allevati ( sono state utilizzate iniizialmente le uova dei pochi esemplari sopravvissuti in zoo ) e imparano a seguire i genitori umani adottivi che insegnano ai giovani a superare le Alpi per svernare in Italia a bordo di un ultraleggero. Gli anziani vengono da soli e nel mese di maggio tutti da soli ritornano in Austria. Quest'anno un anziano seguito da un giovane ha inaugurato una nuova rotta aggirando le Alpi ad ovest forte solo del proprio senso di orientamento e giungendo regolarmente ad Orbetello. Mi piace pensare che in un angolo del suo DNA sia riaffiorata la memoria genetica dei suoi lontani progenitori
