Sulla Sinistra Tempera su tavola 302 x 180 cm. L'opera proviene dalla chiesa di San Francesco a Vercelli. Il dipinto, già attribuito a Gaudenzio Ferrari e a Giuseppe Giovenone, è assegnato ai due figli legittimi di Bernardino Lanino,Pietro Francescoe Gerolamo,che lavorarono quasi sempre in società, anche legandosi per qualche tempo al giovane Moncalvo. L'opera, dai toni cromatici freddi e discordanti, documenta, tra la fine degli anni Settanta e l'inizio degli anni Ottanta, aggiornamenti in chiave spiccatamente manierista su modelli dell'Italia centrale. La consuetudine dei due fratelli a dipingere insieme rende difficile distinguere le loro mani: a ciò si aggiunga la pratica di utilizzare gli stessi disegni preparatori e gli stessi cartoni anche a molti anni di distanza. Il dipinto fu donato nel 1836 dal marchese Agostino Cusani di Sagliano.
