Questo simpatico uccello della famiglia Paridae è presente in Sicilia con una sottospecie endemica. Presenta una particolarità etologica molto interessante: utilizza per la costruzione piume di ogni genere, che reperisce dove capita nei dintorni, con cui fodera l'interno, ma soprattutto ne riveste l'esterno con materiali che raccoglie invece nelle immediate vicinanze e che lo mimetizzano quindi meglio con l'ambiente circostante.
