Ho ripreso questo scorcio di terra toscana lungo il tracciato dell'epica Via Francigena; siamo nel tratto che attraversa, in territorio fiorentino, le fertili campagne di Montaione, lungo la direttrice che da San Miniato di Pisa conduce a San Gimignano. La bellezza dei luoghi, dei borghi e dei paesaggi percorsi dall'antico sentiero della Fede non hanno certo bisogno di presentazioni. Mi piace pensare che anche allora, come oggi, gli eleganti e austeri cipressi toscani potessero accompagnare e sostenere le folte schiere di viandanti e pellegrini solitari che nel loro periglioso cammino sfidavano l'ignoto e distanze incomprensibili per raggiungere Roma ed elevare le loro preghiere davanti al sepolcro di Pietro ...
