in effetti mi ha affascinato di più l'idea di come potesse rendere lo stelo d'erba che non l'insetto stesso, anche se questo doveva comunque, per ovvi motivi, costituire il soggetto principale dell'immagine

Le vespe soggetti comuni ma molto difficili da rappresentare.
Nello scatto inviato trovo che la nitidezza del soggetto risulti poco soddisfacente.

Ciao Piero,
in effetti alcuni particolari non sono perfettamente a fuoco, ma con un 60 mm anziché un 180 sarebbe stato impossibile ottenere quella sfocatura graduale sullo stelo d'erba chiudendo ulteriormente il diaframma o allontanandomi un po' di più dal soggetto. Oltre tutto ero già a 400 ISO (in una situazione mediamente ombreggiata), con un sensore che non è esattamente un fenomeno e già così mi ha obbligato a togliere parecchio rumore su alcune aree dello sfondo, quindi ho optato per un compromesso che non mi facesse rinunciare all'effetto voluto.

indeed some details are not in perfect focus, but with a 60mm instead of a 180 would have been impossible to get that gradual blurring on the stem of grass further closing the aperture or I left a little 'more to the subject. Over all I was already at ISO 400 (in a shaded situation on average), with a sensor that is not exactly a phenomenon already and so I was forced to remove a lot of noise in some parts of the background, so I opted for a compromise that does not make me give the desired effect.

Forse la mancanza di nitidezza potrà essere data dalla presenza del vento, oppure da un non perfetto parallelismo o nello stesso tempo si potrebbe incriminare un diaframma non propio consono al tipo di soggetto. Certo potrai obiettare che il tuo scopo era d'ottenere un valido sfocato della spiga, quindi chiudendo il diaframma avresti avuto maggior pdc anche su qust'ultima, non posso negarlo. Credo però la cosa primaria sia quella d'ottenere il soggetto nitido e dettagliato,altrimenti si dovrebbe puntare ad una maf selettiva.
A livello compositivo vedrei meglio l'immagine con una ripresa verticale.
Quanto scritto è solo dettato da una personalissima idea, la quale è stata semplicemente espressa come scambio d'oppinioni.
Perhaps the lack of sharpness may be given by the presence of the wind, or by a not perfectly parallel or at the same time it could incriminate a diaphragm propio not appropriate to the type of subject. Of course you can argue that your goal was to get in a good fuzzy spike, then stopping down would have been more pdc also qust'ultima, I can not deny it. But I think the primary thing is to strive for the subject crisp and detailed, otherwise you should aim for a maf selective.
In terms of composition I would see more of the picture with a vertical view.

in effetti hai ragione sul discorso della maf dell'insetto; in alcuni casi riesco anche ad operare un vero e proprio focus stacking, o similare, anche su insetti in natura, in modo però da recuperare solo i particolari che mi interessano; ammetto che questa volta non avevo nemmeno scelto l'ora più propizia per avere l'aria (e l'erba) perfettamente immobile.
Sul taglio verticale anch'io, riguardando ogni tanto la foto, mi sono chiesto spesso se non sarebbe stata una scelta migliore, inquadrando anche la porzione di spiga che esce dal fotogramma in basso; probabilmente mi sto adeguando un po' troppo ad altri soggetti che lasciano più tempo per studiare l'inquadratura.
