La città fortificata, o Ksar, di Ait Benhaddou è composta da un gruppo di edifici costruiti nel 1600 con materiali organici, tra cui un ricco fango rosso, e racchiusa all'interno di alte mura dove ancora oggi alcune famiglie vivono. Ait Benhaddou è stata costruita su una collina, in modo da dominare la vallata, lungo le sponde del fiume Ounila, ai piedi delle montagne dell'Atlante, a 30 chilometri da Ouarzazate. Poco più in la, oltre il letto del fiume, sorge il nuovo villaggio, il passato ed il presente l'uno di fronte all'altro. #CittàDallAlto
