DESCRIZIONE: grande specie di forma allungata e colorazione uniforme ma variabile: sono frequenti esemplari di colore verde erba e bruno-giallastro mentre più rari sono quelli di colore rosso -viola. Capo a forma conica. ECOLOGIA: Specie mesofila o igrofila, colonizza soprattutto ambienti con un certo grado di umidità. CANTO: il canto della R. nitidula è un continuo ronzio metallico molto forte che può essere udito di notte o nelle giornate fresche.
