Lo scoiattolo rosso non va "ripopolato", si riproduce con difficoltà in cattività, le popolazioni selvatiche ci sono e contineranno ad esserci se non si eliminano attraverso persecuzione diretta, modifica degli habitat o introduzione di specie esotiche, come lo scoiattolo grigio. Nel parco non vedevi scoiattoli, non so se ci fossero, ma il tuo amico grigio si riproduce, esce dal parco, e va nei boschi dove combina un macello, compresa la predazione dei nidi di varie specie di uccelli. Gli scoiattoli grigi sono comparsi dieci anni fa perchè qualche incoscente li ha liberati, e i risultati in molti posti sono un disastro, nelle isole britanniche il rosso è andato definitivamente in UK, mentre in Irlanda resiste con fatiche in pochi posti.
